I am supporting with all aspects of language learning at Key Stage 3 to develop competency in reading, writing, listening and speaking. My methods are based on grammar and vocabulary reinforcement manipulating grammatical structures and patterns, as well as developing a range of vocabulary within the different topics. I help my students to advance in their study skills to be successful in learning a foreign language:

• by setting realistic goals

• by introducing study techniques in all four skills

• by introducing German culture and tradition

• by the use of authentic sources

Most importantly I believe that language learning should be fun and interesting and I often use games to engage my pupils and to encourage creative and active use of German.

I am supporting with all aspects of language learning at GCSE/IGCSE level. Personalised learning enables pupils to build on prior knowledge and  encourages pupils to accelerate learning through appropriate pace. Pupils will

• develop confidence in their language proficiency

• develop cultural understanding and awareness of German speaking countries

• develop further study skills to pass their GCSE and to enable them to continue language learning at A-level

Language learning at GCSE level will enable students to use language for a variety of purposes, embedded in broad themes such as identity and culture, local, national, international and global areas of interest as well as current and future study and employment.

I am offering support with all aspects of language learning at A-level. Personalised learning enables students to bridge the gap between GCSE and A-levels at an early stage

• through grammar reinforcement and acquisition of new grammatical structures

• by enhancing linguistic skills through an extended range of vocabulary applicable for reading, listening,writing and speaking  

• by promoting critical thinking and acquisition of strategies for mastering complex texts, film and other materials

Standalone AS qualification are no longer counting towards the  A level qualification. A levels are fully linear, with students sitting their exam at the end of a two year course. AS students can go on to take the A level in year 2, but the AS qualification will not count towards the A level.

Components are:

- Set literature at A level (choice of text or film at AS). All assessed through a target language essay.

- Independent research project at A level assessed within the speaking exam.

- Compulsory themes: social issues and trends, political and/or intellectual and/or artistic culture.

I will support with A level exam strategies:

• to acquire a diverse vocabulary and culturally appropriate idiomatic expressions

• to create language use (as opposed to memorised expressions)

• to improve translations through language concepts

• to gain a better understanding of essay writing

• to increase language fluency

• to practise mock exams in real time

Whatever your background or level I am offering tailor made German lessons to meet your needs and objectives. You will be trained:

• in conversational German to speak and express your ideas

• in grammatical aspects to ensure that you develop confidence in actively using the language

• in reading comprehension to get the gist of texts as well as detailed information with more complex texts

• in written language to practise different formats of writing and to apply previously learnt vocabulary or grammar

German conversation clubs are informal and aimed at

​

• people who want to speak German confidently

• those whose reading, writing and grammar skills are better than speaking, understanding 

• people who want to shorten their 'thinking time' and speak or respond more quickly

• those who need German to improve job opportunities or to travel and meet new people

• those who live in German speaking countries and would like to improve in accuracy and pronunciation

I am offering Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced sessions with a minimum number of 2 and a maximum number of 5 attendees per group. Please note that you are required to have a basic knowledge of German for the Beginner classes.
